County service board commissioners sworn in

Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani has challenged newly appointed members of the Kwale County Public Service Board (KCPSB) to uphold integrity, professionalism, transparency, and accountability as they undertake their mandate of strengthening public service delivery in the county.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of the Board’s chairperson and members at the County Headquarters in Matuga Sub-county, Governor Achani urged the commissioners to execute their duties fairly and without discrimination.

She cautioned them against allowing tribalism or other forms of bias to influence their decisions, emphasizing that they were entrusted with serving all residents of Kwale County equally.

“This work comes with many challenges, but I urge you not to allow tribalism to influence your decisions. Serve all the people of Kwale equally, fairly and without discrimination,” said Achani.

The governor further called on the commissioners to work as a team and maintain confidentiality while discharging their responsibilities.

The newly sworn-in board comprises Chairperson Mwanamisi Ali Libondo and members Khadija Swaleh Juma, Richard Mwatu Musyoki, Rasi Ndago Masudi, Hassan Nyuchi, and Ali Salim Chai.

The County Public Service Board is mandated to recruit, appoint, and confirm staff in the County Government; establish and abolish offices within the County Public Service; exercise disciplinary control; and remove officers from office where necessary in accordance with the law.

Deputy Governor Chirema Kombo congratulated the commissioners on their appointment and urged them to foster collaboration with stakeholders to enhance efficiency, professionalism, and service delivery within the devolved unit.

“I encourage you to work closely with all stakeholders and uphold a spirit of collaboration to enhance public confidence in county governance,” he said.

Members of the County Assembly led by Minority Leader Tumaini Mwachaunga welcomed the new board, describing their appointment as a significant step towards strengthening public service administration and improving service delivery to residents.

The ceremony was attended by members of the County Assembly, County Executive Committee Members, Chief Officers, directors and other county government officials.
