Senegal, Egypt, Nigeria and Morocco have sealed their places in the semi-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco (AFCON) 2025 following their last eight victories.
Both AFCON semi-final matches will be played on Wednesday, January 14 as record seven-time African champions Egypt, 2013 champions Nigeria, 2021 winners Senegal and hosts Morocco have all confirmed their place.
Senegal will face Egypt, renewing a heavyweight rivalry, while hosts Morocco will take on Nigeria in what promises to be another blockbuster encounter under the Moroccan lights.
Senegal secured their place in the semi-finals after edging past Mali 1–0 in a tense West African derby on Friday.
The decisive moment came in the first half, when Iliman Ndiaye struck clinically to give the Lions of Teranga a lead they would protect with composure and authority.
Egypt sealed the final semi-final ticket on Saturday after edging defending champions Côte d’Ivoire 3-2 in a lively contest, bringing the Elephants’ reign to an end.
They will now face Senegal in Tangier on Wednesday at 8 pm EAT local time (17h00 GMT), who were the first side to advance to the last four following a composed 1-0 victory over Mali on Friday.
Morocco eased into the semi-finals with a commanding 2–0 victory over Cameroon to seal their place in the last four.
Goals by Brahim Diaz and Ismaël Saibari were enough to help the host nation to advance and keep alive their hopes of winning the title at home.
Completing the semi-final line-up are Nigeria, who delivered a clinical performance to defeat Algeria 2-0 and set up a blockbuster clash with the hosts Morocco that will be played in Rabat at 11 pm EAT (20h00 GMT).
The Super Eagles found their breakthrough through goals by Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams, whose decisive finish rewarded Nigeria’s growing dominance and attacking intent.
The semi-finals of the AFCON 2025 competition will be building towards the finals set on January 18 in Rabat.
