The Turkana County Government in partnership with BOMA Project and Smart Regional Consultants, will host an elaborate trade fair starting 17th February 2026 at the Ekalees Cultural Centre.
The event, under the Kuza Jamii II Program, aims to promote economic inclusion and strengthen local enterprises across the county.
The trade fair will bring together traders in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), youth and women enterprise groups, cooperatives, SACCOs, financial institutions, and development partners.
Various county departments, including Agriculture and Livestock Development, Trade, Gender, Youth Affairs, Tourism, and Social Protection, will also showcase their services and products.
Speaking during a courtesy meeting, CECM for Trade, Gender and Tourism, James Longole Wangiros, said the initiative supports the county’s goal of empowering local entrepreneurs and enhancing market access and opportunities.
“This trade fair is a strategic platform that will link traders, pastoralists, and enterprise groups with reliable markets and financial partners, reinforcing our commitment to inclusive economic growth,” he said.
Chief Officer for Trade and Enterprises, Pauline Tangarae, noted that preparations are at an advanced stage, with the event designed to create direct connections between producers, traders, and financiers.
She added that youth and women groups will particularly benefit through exposure, networking, and enterprise support services.
SRC representative Bonano Obadiah, commended the county for fostering partnerships.

The Kuza Jamii II Program seeks to strengthen livelihoods through enterprise development, market integration, and capacity building.
The upcoming trade fair is expected to play a key role in advancing these goals while positioning local enterprises for growth and investment.
Also present during the consultation meeting were Director for Trade Winnie Loposh and SRC officials Starnsilaus Auren, Emmanuel Eporon, and John Etiir.
