Two people have been admitted to hospital with serious injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in an accident along the Kasikeu–Sultan Hamud Road in Mukaa Sub- County.
The 4:50 a.m. accident occurred at Kwa Musui Bridge when the driver, Bernard Mambo (41), lost control of his Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, registration number KDS 500K, and hit a tree. His wife, Caro Mau (37), was also on board.
Speaking to KNA by phone on Sunday, Mukaa Sub- County Police Commander Abduba Hussein said the injured were rushed to Sultan Hamud Sub- County Hospital for treatment.
“The vehicle was heading to Sultan Hamud from Kasikeu. On reaching Kwa Musui Bridge, the driver lost control and plunged into the deep, dry riverbed before hitting a tree,” said Hussein.
He added that Mambo sustained head injuries and complained of body pains, while his wife suffered a broken right leg.
The two were later transferred to Machakos County Referral Hospital for specialized treatment.
The badly damaged vehicle was towed to Sultan Hamud Police Station yard awaiting inspection.
