A 16-year-old Grade 9 student has reportedly committed suicide in Rabuor, Kadibo Sub-County, Kisumu County due to unestablished reasons.
According to police sources, Bevon Ouma Apii’s body was found on Monday evening, hanging from a roof rafter inside a two-roomed semi-permanent house in Kanyuli Village, Kawino North location. He allegedly used a scarf to end his life.
The incident was reported to Rabuor Police Station by the area Chief, Amos Ondeny, at around 4.20 pm following the discovery of the body.
Police confirmed the deceased was a student at Kolal Junior Secondary School and had left school for home during lunchtime.
“He is reported to have left the school during lunch break and headed to their homestead where he committed suicide by hanging himself using a scarf,” read part of the police incident report.
Preliminary investigations suggest no signs of foul play, with officers confirming that the body had no visible injuries.
The body was moved to Ahero County Hospital Morgue in Nyando Sub-County for preservation pending postmortem.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
