Jomvu Member of Parliament, Hon Badi Twalib, has urged members of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to uphold their cooperation with President William Ruto, warning against attempts to abandon the current political alliance or form new partnerships ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking at Mikindani Social Hall during the presentation of Uwezo Fund cheques worth Sh2.9 million to 30 self-help groups in Jomvu Constituency, Hon Twalib highlighted the late Raila Odinga’s pivotal role in fostering ties between ODM and the government, which led to several party members being appointed to senior positions, including Cabinet Secretaries and Principal Secretaries.
He described the partnership as effective cooperation that Raila endorsed until his death on October 15, 2025. “The late Raila Odinga took his own Members of Parliament and made them Cabinet Secretaries. When you give your MPs to the government, is that cooperation or not?” Hon Twalib asked.
The MP cautioned against renegotiating or shifting alliances, arguing that the current arrangement positions ODM close to influencing key government decisions. He expressed confidence that President Ruto will secure a second term and urged supporters to align with proven leadership rather than uncertain alternatives.
“President William Ruto is coming back for a second term. He is going to secure a second term. Now the question is, who do we negotiate with? One who is going to win or one who is taking a chance?” he stated.
Hon Twalib further stressed that ODM cannot form a government independently and should maintain the partnership to maximize benefits for constituents. “With the way things are, with William Ruto we are almost at the finish line. Let us not lie to one another,” he added.
