The Vihiga County Department of Gender, Youth, Sports, Culture, and Social Services has held a sensitization workshop in Mbale to align staff with its proposed organogram and operational frameworks.
The workshop brought together departmental leadership, administrative personnel, and field officers to review structural realignments aimed at streamlining operations across youth, sports, gender, culture, and social services divisions.
Senior leadership presented the revised organogram, detailing clear reporting lines from the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) and Chief Officer down to directorships, administrative units, and field staff.
Officers were instructed to complete official evaluation forms accurately, with management emphasizing the exercise was meant to guide future operational direction and institutional growth rather than serve as a public relations exercise.
The leadership further directed staff to maintain existing reporting protocols and administrative discipline until proposed changes are officially finalized and formal deployment letters issued.
Addressing the forum, CECM for Gender, Youth, Sports, Culture, and Social Services, Dr. Ruth Agesa, urged all members to embrace the fight against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Incest, which she noted were increasingly being recorded in Vihiga County.
Dr. Agesa said tackling GBV and incest requires concerted effort from all officers, calling for community sensitization and strong coordination with other stakeholders to protect vulnerable groups.
She also announced upcoming activities, including the launch of advocacy programs against GBV, cultural initiatives, and the signing of performance contracts.
Other senior county representatives urged staff to embrace the new structures, noting that clear career progression routes and defined cadre roles will enhance service delivery to Vihiga residents.
