Police officers serving in Ethi Location, Laikipia North Constituency, have received morale booster by occupying new residential units expected to improve their living standards, improve response time and strengthen security operations in the area.
The housing units at Ethi Police Station were constructed using funds from the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) to provide officers with decent accommodation and support effective policing in the vast pastoral region.
Speaking during the commissioning of the houses, Laikipia North Member of Parliament Sarah Korere said the government would recruit additional National Police Reservists (NPR) to reinforce security and help curb cattle rustling and other forms of crime in the area.
Korere urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspected cattle rustlers and ensuring offenders are arrested and prosecuted.
“Rustlers do not come from other areas. They are within our communities. As security operations continue in Mukogodo Forest, similar efforts should also be intensified in Ethi to eliminate criminal activities,” she said.
The MP also appealed to individuals in possession of illegal firearms to surrender them voluntarily to the authorities, warning that security agencies would continue cracking down on unlawful weapons.
Residents welcomed the new housing units, saying they would motivate officers and improve security services. They, however, appealed to the government to provide Ethi Police Station with a patrol vehicle to enhance police mobility and enable faster response to security incidents across the expansive area.
