Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has commissioned critical upgrades at Muumandu Health Centre in Kola Ward, including a new oxygen piping system, oxygen manifold, and improved water supply and drainage infrastructure.
The upgrades were unveiled during the final leg of her Machakos Sub-County development tour and are aimed at enhancing service delivery and ensuring compliance with modern healthcare standards.
The oxygen piping and manifold system will provide uninterrupted supply of medical oxygen to wards and emergency units, while the upgraded water and drainage systems are expected to strengthen infection prevention and sanitation within the facility.
Speaking during the commissioning on Friday evening, Governor Ndeti said the installations are designed to ensure that health facilities remain fully operational, particularly during emergencies.
She emphasized that reliable oxygen and water systems are essential components of quality healthcare and must be prioritized in all public health facilities.
“Every facility must be prepared for emergencies. Basic infrastructure such as oxygen and water systems is not negotiable when it comes to saving lives,” she said.
The Muumandu Health Centre serves residents of Kola Ward and surrounding areas. With the new upgrades, clinicians are now better equipped to handle respiratory illnesses, maternal emergencies and surgical referrals more effectively and safely.
County health officials said routine maintenance protocols have been established to ensure the systems remain functional throughout the year while improving patient safety and service delivery.
