Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Education, Dr. Julius Migos Ogamba, has underscored the government’s commitment to enhance and support the education sector in an effort to ensure there is improved and enough school infrastructure as well as conducive environment for learners.
The CS noted that the government has gradually increased education funding, noting that in the next 2026-2027 Fiscal Year, it has budgeted an increased allocation to Sh767 billion-up from the current Sh702 billion.
The funding, according to the CS is set to support the roll-out of Curriculum Based Education (CBE) and improve the quality of education across the country.
Ogamba spoke at Nyandarua High School, where he graced the schools Education Day to celebrate learners who performed well in last year’s KCSE exams.
He was flanked by his Wildlife and Tourism counterpart Ms. Rebecca Miano and Roads Principal Secretary (PS), Eng. Joseph Mbugua.
In the last three years, Dr. Ogamba noted, the Kenya Kwanza Administration has constructed over 23,000 classrooms to enhance adequate infrastructure in an effort to address the growing enrollment challenges.
He further added that the government intends to construct more than 1,600 school laboratories across the country, to ensure enough capacity for learning in the STEM Subjects in senior schools.
CS Miano and Nyandarua County Commissioner, Abdulasaak Jaldesa, called for concerted efforts by education stakeholders to support the sector in order to produce quality human resources.
They emphasized the need to support the government in its efforts to implement meaningful development projects.
