Kisii family seeks justice over murder of kin

The family of a 54-year-old boda boda rider is seeking justice after he was allegedly beaten to death in a retaliatory attack at Maili Mbili area on the outskirts of Kisii town.

Speaking to the press at his home in Oroche village in Kenyenya Sub-County, the father of the deceased Charles Ondieki said his late son Peter Orina was assaulted by known persons on November 18, 2025, days after he prevented them from breaking into a nearby business premise.

According to Ondieki, his son was killed after he identified familiar individuals trying to rob the business and raised an alarm.

The distraught father claimed the suspects then cornered his son when he was dropping off customers in the area and assaulted him leading to his demise, out of fear of being reprimanded.

Ondieki called upon the government to assist the family get justice by ensuring the perpetrators are arrested and charged for the grievous offence.

He added the deceased had three children and a wife whom he was supporting and now the responsibility of taking care of their basic needs had been left to him.

Confirming the incident, Kisii Central Sub County Police Commander Musa Omar said two juvenile suspects aged 13 and 16 years had already been arrested and presented in court for plea taking on December 1 and the case will be mentioned on February 27.

The Sub County Police Commander added that four other suspects, including the prime suspect in the murder, were still at large and the authorities were working on tracing them.

Omar assured the family and members of the public that the perpetrators will be brought to book and appealed to members of the public to volunteer any information that could lead to the arrest of the four suspects.
