A Maralal Court has ordered that the Administration Police officer accused of killing his boss at Maralal police station over the weekend be remanded by police for seven more days before the trial of his case.
The Maralal Senior Resident Magistrate (SRM), Abraham Gachie granted Samburu central criminal investigations department permission to detain Patrick Marwa for more days to allow them complete investigations into the incident before presenting the suspect in court to take a plea.
While making an application before Gachie, the investigating Officer, Steven Ndonga said remanding the suspect in police custody for one week would enable DCI office to ensure that the suspect is taken through a psychiatric examination.
The prosecution told the court that the detention of the suspect would also allow for a postmortem examination to be done on the body and acquire key exhibits before presenting the suspect in court on Monday next week.
Marwa, an administration police officer attached to Samburu central sub county AP Line was arrested and detained at Maralal police station after he opened gun fire on senior sergeant, Duncan Cheruiyot killing him on the spot at about 7pm on Saturday.
