Leaders in Kisii County have lauded President Dr. William Ruto for initiating various infrastructural projects, aimed at transforming the lives of residents in the county.
Speaking in Nyamache town during the third-day of his presidential tour of Gusii region, the leaders led by Kisii Governor and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Deputy Party Leader, Simba Arati, declared their unwavering support for Ruto, saying his development record speaks for itself.
“The ongoing projects in different Constituencies within our County, including roads, markets, affordable houses and last mile electricity connectivity, will have an impact on the County’s development agenda,” Arati said.
The Governor highlighted the productive engagement with the government under the Broad-Based arrangement between ODM and UDA, noting the partnership had accelerated development for the residents of Kisii.
He also thanked the President for allocating an additional Sh100 million for the upgrading of Nyamache Sub-county Referral Hospital, saying that it will strengthen universal health coverage in the region.
Similarly, State Department for Broadcasting and Telecommunications Principal Secretary, Stephen Isaboke, who accompanied the leaders, reiterated the government’s commitment to uniting the people and promoting development in the region.
South Mugirango Member of Parliament, Silvanus Osoro, accused the opposition leaders of fueling hatred and divisive politics in the region.
Osoro noted the National government is currently focusing on bringing tangible changes to the residents, adding that time for politics will come.
During Day-Three of his tour, President Ruto laid the foundation stone for student hostels at Nyamache KMTC in Bobasi Constituency.
He also committed Sh100 million to upgrade Nyamache Sub-county Referral Hospital and an additional Sh 20 million to build 10 additional classrooms and two laboratories at the institution.
The President also inspected the construction of the Sh75 million Mogonga modern market, which will house 300 traders, complete with an ICT hub, cold storage facilities and a hall for hosting events and community activities.
Further, the Head of State handed over the Masimba Modern Market to traders in Nyaribari Masaba Constituency and launched the construction of Keumbu-Ibeno road and rehabilitation of Kisii water supply network projects in Nyaribari Chache Constituency.
