Medical superintendent suspended for alleged negligence

The Mtito Andei Subcounty Hospital Medical Superintendent has been suspended for allegations of negligence linked to the death of a newborn during delivery.

In a signed statement by the Chief Officer (CO) in charge of Health, Human Resource Management and Administration, Dr Harvey Mulei said that they have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night when the woman went to the hospital to deliver but it was claimed that she was not attended promptly by the health workers at the institution.

“I have suspended the doctor so that we can pave the way for investigations. The investigations are being carried out by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Nursing Council and the Doctor’s Council so as to get the proper situation of the incident,” said Dr Mulei.

“The County government remains committed to upholding healthcare standards and ensuring accountability within public health facilities,” the CO added.
