Principal call for Rachuonyo TVC support to serve students better

Rachuonyo Technical and Vocational College (RTVC) Principal Nelly Okeye has urged the community to continue supporting the institution as it continues to enroll more youth for technical skill development that will help transform their lives.

Okeye said the TVC’s was committed to providing youth with practical skills in various sectors, including construction, agriculture, fashion design and food courses among others in the current job market

She noted that the college’s motto is ‘Technology for Empowerment’, aligns with the government’s agenda of creating employment and livelihood opportunities for graduates.

The principal also pointed out the significant impact the college has had on the local economy as the student rely on the local market for food supply and accommodation.

“Since its inception, four years ago, areas like Ombek centre and Oyuma have seen substantial growth,” she said while giving her speech.

She expressed her appreciation to the local administration, the area MP Boyd Were and the community at large, for their unwavering support.

The MP was particularly lauded for his contributions including the drilling of a borehole to ensure adequate water supply and an ongoing project to provide a college bus.

The principal also acknowledged the MP’s role in providing bursaries from the CDF-NG to the students.

However, with its growing population currently training over 700 students the Rachuonyo TVC is facing space constraints

The principal appealed to the government to consider the college for additional learning infrastructures among them classrooms and workshops to accommodate the increasing student population.

She said Rachuonyo TVC remains a beacon of hope and a driver of development in Rachuonyo South Sub County

“We are dedicated to equipping the next generation with the skills needed to build a prosperous Kenyan economy,” Okeye said.
