Kiambu County has held a thanksgiving service for disciplined uniformed services and their families, honoring officers who died in the line of duty, while promoting gratitude and national unity.
Regional Security commanders, County commanders and representatives from various security agencies gathered at the County Commissioner’s Office before proceeding to the event at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Speaking during the homily, Rt. Rev. Wallace Ng’ang’a, Bishop in charge of Military Ordinariate, urged officers to embrace gratitude and lead by example.
“Faith without action is dead,” he said, encouraging them to stand for truth and help those in need at all times.
Chief guest Titus Macharia, the Deputy County Commissioner Kiambu commended the officers for their dedication.
He reminded them that national security is an important responsibility, and when every officer performs their duties effectively, the combined efforts contribute to the greater good and national progress.
Macharia drew lessons from the biblical story of the ten lepers, noting that only one returned to give thanks. He urged officers to teach their children the value of gratitude early to prevent entitlement.
The day’s activities began with a tree planting exercise at the County Commissioner’s Office to mark World Environment Day.
Leaders then joined a colorful procession from Posta Grounds to St. Peter and Paul Catholic Parish, led by the Kenya Forest Service Band.
Security agencies represented included the Kenya Police Service, Kenya Forest Service, Directorate of Criminal Investigations, National Youth Service, Administration Police, Kenya Prison Service and Kenya Wildlife Service.
Bishop Ng’ang’a emphasized the importance of officers acting as good shepherds who foster unity in the workplace.
He called on them to combine faith with practical action in their service to the nation.
The event concluded with final blessings by the bishop, including the blessing of tools of work, cake cutting, and blessing of service vehicles. Officers and their families received applause for their active participation in the well-coordinated ceremony.
The Thanksgiving, service served as a platform to express gratitude to the men and women in uniform, recognize their sacrifices and strengthen bonds between security agencies and the community they serve.
Leaders present described the occasion as meaningful and timely in reinforcing discipline, patriotism and service delivery across the uniformed services.
